PRODUCT TYPES

ST44 Seamless Pipe

Overview:
ST44 seamless pipes are low-carbon, high-strength steel pipes known for their excellent weldability, durability, and resistance to pressure and temperature. These pipes are primarily used in applications that require high strength and toughness. ST44 pipes are widely used in the construction, automotive, and structural industries for applications that involve both high pressure and mechanical stress.

Physical Properties:

  • Density: 7.85 g/cm³ (7850 kg/m³)
  • Tensile Strength (Rm): 490–630 MPa
  • Yield Strength (Rp0.2): 355 MPa (min)
  • Elongation (A): ≥ 22% (for thickness up to 20 mm)
  • Hardness (HB): 160–190

Machinability:
ST44 seamless pipes have excellent machinability due to their balanced carbon and manganese content. The material is suitable for turning, drilling, and milling with good surface finish. The lower carbon content ensures that it remains relatively easy to work with during machining operations.

Machining Tips:

  • Use HSS or carbide cutting tools for optimal performance.
  • Moderate cutting speeds should be maintained to reduce tool wear.
  • Coolant should be used to avoid heat buildup and extend tool life.

Weldability:
ST44 pipes have excellent weldability thanks to their low carbon content and balanced alloy composition. They can be welded using standard welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and arc welding. For sections thicker than 30 mm, preheating may be required.

Welding Guidelines:

  • Preheating is not required for sections under 30 mm, but it is recommended for thicker sections.
  • Use low-hydrogen electrodes to improve the quality of the weld.
  • Post-weld heat treatment may be necessary for thicker sections to relieve internal stresses.

Usage Areas:
ST44 seamless pipes are commonly used in industries requiring high-strength and durable piping solutions. Some common applications include:

  • Construction Industry: Used for structural components, frames, and columns.
  • Automotive Industry: Hydraulic pipes and suspension system components.
  • Structural Applications: Ideal for use in machinery and other structural components.
  • Heavy Equipment: Used in cranes, lifting equipment, and other heavy machinery subjected to high stress.

Industries Using ST44 Seamless Pipes:

  • Construction: Structural components, columns, and beams.
  • Automotive: Hydraulic systems, suspension systems, and structural pipes.
  • Structural Engineering: Machinery and equipment piping.
  • Heavy Equipment: Used for cranes and industrial equipment.

Key Advantages of ST44 Seamless Pipes:

  • High Strength: Perfect for structural and high-pressure applications.
  • Excellent Weldability: Easy to weld using standard techniques.
  • Machinability: Easy to machine with good surface finish.
